Mindy told me in their Pre-Session Questionairre that one of their family’s favorite things to do was go to the mountains together, and I had been dying to shoot up near Alta ski resort at this meadow of wild flowers! It had to be the right time of year and the gods were with us! And it’s a really important part of the outcome of a family’s photos for me to capture a family’s innate environment and personality in their session images. So up the mountains we went!
Mindy is such a happy person! And at every step through their photo session process, from pre-session consults through delivery, she was so on top of everything and fun! And we had the best time at her shoot. Isn’t Albion Basin up Little Cottonwood Canyon just GORGEOUS!
It was very special for me to photograph this family. Mindy has some complicated health issues that make life sometimes unpredictable and they have struggled to find solid solutions to her complications. I was so happy to capture this family and all the strength they embody. They are bonded, playful, and optimistic through it all.
They chose Fine Art Wall Portraits to display these images in their home and Mindy did such a good job using the Candice Andrus Photography style guide to style their clothing to coordinate with the space in her home where she wanted to display the photos. Then she made the most amazing WALL of frames! Check out the photo here at our Facebook page here. She did such an amazing job coordinating the room, the location of our shoot, their clothing, and her frames for an amazing display I hope they can cherish for forever. I think these photos represent just what Mindy told me they were as a family: “strong, close, and easy-going.”
I LOVED being with the Hodges. I felt it a privilege with all they have to deal with to get the chance to photograph them. You really are inspiring, Mindy and family.
